Yeading Brook Unbound

This major new nature recovery project – supported by the Rewild London Fund (RLF), the Environment Agency and the Smarter Water Catchments initiative and led by the London Borough of Harrow – will deliver habitat enhancements to the channel, margins and adjoining open spaces of the western arm of the Yeading Brook.  The project will focus on four open spaces in particular:

Headstone Manor Park

Yeading Walk

Streamside Open Space and Allotments

Roxbourne Park

The southern end of Roxbourne Park lies in the London Borough of Hillingdon so there is a pan-borough dimension to part of the ‘Yeading Brook Unbound’ project.

A key aim of this project is to involve local people in the managing, monitoring and on-going improvement of the Brook.  The intention is to support and work with existing Friends groups (Friends of Headstone Manor Park, Friends of Yeading Walk and Friends of Roxbourne Park) in the spaces they care for, and also to work with Harrow Nature Conservation Forum (HNCF) to develop new volunteering opportunities where there are currently gaps in coverage.  LB Harrow’s new Nature Recovery Ranger will co-ordinate ‘Yeading Brook Unbound’, liaising with stakeholders to deliver the project programme and working on the ground with contractors and volunteers.   Enhancement works will be informed by surveys carried out by specialist hydromorphology and ecology contractors.  Some intial survey work on the Yeading Brook West has already been undertaken, funded by the Environment Agency.
